Thank you for the additional information. If you moved in without a lease, then you would be considered a month to month tenant. Since that is the case, the man could terminate the tenancy with a 30 day notice. The notice to vacate needs to be in writing and if the rent is paid on the 1st of the month, he would need to provide you with the proper written notice, if he wants you to move out.
