I am 76 and living on social security. About five years ago

Customer Question

I am 76 and living on social security. About five years ago I was working and paid all of my credit cards, but after I lost my job, I could no longer handle the debt. I sought bankruptcy protection but it was suggested by the law office that at my age and lack of income or assets, I should just go into default...ignore the credit collection agencies. Now I am, apparently, being sued by one for a Bank of America balance, plus interest and projected court costs. Not sure what to do, and I still have no assets.

Do you have any non-exempt assets? How much is owed?
