I received a phone call from a Philip Wakeman from Quebec,

Customer Question

I received a phone call from a Philip Wakeman from Quebec, Canada, informing me that I have been named in a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of people who have been scammed by Jamaiican scammers pretending to be sweepstakes officials. Now I'm afraid I'm about to be scammed again by this outfit from Canada. Can you find out whether this Philip Wakeman is legit or not? He wants me to pay "taxes" before he sends me the check.

You are being scammed.

Do not send money!!!

(Any legitimate firm will be able to withhold taxes from your recovery. Any legitimate attorney or firm will be listed both online (have an internet presence) and with their professional licensing association).

Report this to local law enforcement (use their non-emergency phone number), perhaps with multiple reports they will be able to make progress in stopping these kinds of frauds (it is extremely difficult for law enforcement to do so, but if you don't report them, they never will get a chance).

In the meantime, you do not need to take any further calls from this individual. There is no need to talk to him any further.
