For expungement to actually happen, you have to request it. It is not an automatic process.
how do I go about requesting it ,
what is a good way to find a attorney?
What you should do is contact the California bar association, and they can provide you with a list of attorneys in your area who might be able to help.
You could also just try to find a local criminal attorney, it would not be a complicated process for any competent attorney to handle and really should not be too expensive
are they online?
Here is the website for CA's Legal Referral service: http://www.calbar.ca.gov/Public/LawyerReferralServicesLRS.aspx
