I received a letter from a lawyer asking for permission to come onto my property to take pictures of my walk because someone had slipped and fell down the stairs before I owned the property. Can I be pulled into the suit? The incident happened in 2011 and I bought the house in January 2013.
Hello. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be happy to answer your question.

I am very sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation.

Generally, you would not be liable for anything that has occurred on your property, prior to you taking the ownership of your property, however you are under no obligation to cooperate with the attorney and do not have to provide access to your property.

I wish you the best of luck!
