How long does it take an already certified notary in the state

This answer was rated:

How long does it take an already certified notary in the state of California to get an additional license to marry people? Can any notary get qualified? This would be for a mobile notary license to marry people.
Thank you for your question.

Actually, California notaries can only perform marriage ceremonies if they are also a priest, minister, rabbi or other person authorized to do so under Family Code sections 400 to 402.

So, simply being a notary would not make them eligible to perform ceremonies in California. Whether they can get qualified depends on the specific requirements of the program they are looking into and if they meet them. I can tell you that the California Family Code doesn't prohibit a person from say, becoming a minister through a quick online course, after which they would authorized to perform marriage ceremonies.
