Customer Question

I have a judgement against me for a $1000. A rent dipute. State of Maryland .

If have decided to pay the amount. Should I contact the court to do this or should I contact the plaintiff ?

And if I can negotiate a settlement for a less amount with the plaintiff does this change whom I should contact to satisfy the judgement ?

WALLSTREETLAW :

Hello I am a licensed attorney here to help you with your question, please review my response and do not hesitate to ask for clarificati on

WALLSTREETLAW :

In terms of a Judgment, you should contact the Plaintiff, not the Court,

WALLSTREETLAW :

if the judgment is given to a collection agency you can contact the collection agency to settle the amount, they may offer a lower amount than the original amount,

WALLSTREETLAW :

For the judgment to be cleared, the Plaintiff, would submit a letter to the Court, stating the Judgment has been settled, and that would remove the judgment from your record.

WALLSTREETLAW :

Typically this is called a satisfaction,

WALLSTREETLAW :

a satisfaction would remove the judgement from your record.
