I filed a va claim can i cancel it?
Hello and thank you for your question. For over 34 years I have answered questions just like yours. And I look forward to assisting you.

If you filed a VA claim for disablity benefits, and your claim has not been acknowledged yet (that is you were not assigned a claim number) you must wait to receive a claim number before you can dismiss it. To dismiss, write a letter to the VA referencing your claim number. Note, there is no form to dismiss. Instead, all you need to do is write on your letter "please dismiss my claim for benefits." Also sign and date your letter.
