In the state o Virginia once a creditor has received a judgement

This answer was rated:

In the state o Virginia once a creditor has received a judgement does he have to go to court again before he can get a garnishment order to freeze one's bank account or is that automatic once they receive and win a judgement?

Thank you for your question.

A garnshiment in Virginia is granted automatically after 10 days upon the signature of an enforcing party on the garnishment summons. Only after the garnishment is enforced will you receive a notice of it. That is to prevent you from moving money out of your bank account.
