Can I sue a person who lied to the police, the lie resulted in two felony charges- dismissed 1/11/2012 and another felony charge- same alleged crime- in Feb. 2012.His lies are easy to prove with scientific, professional, and accepted standards proof.I truly believe he was coerced to lie by a judge, alleged victims brother in law, and members of the prosecutors office he played ball with, does business with, and goes to a self rightouess church with them or many members of their extended families.I promise there is substantial evidence verifying his lies. The trial for the second time is on 9/17/2012, but my attorney plans to seek a continuance.Am I allowed to go ahead and sue him for Defamation, slander,libel- he was qouted in the local rag. Can I go ahead and file a suit?

yes, if someone lied to get charges against someone, then you can file suit against the person for malicious prosecution and you can seek the damages from the person who made the false allegations. The prosecutor is immune from suit, but the party who filed the false charges is not. Before you have a case to sue over, you will have to have the criminal case completed and disposed of.
