How do I get a GA open records request form and file it?
Optional Information: Country relating to Question: United StatesState (if USA): GeorgiaWhat have you tried so far?: We were told to request records of accidents that happened at a manhole at Manning St and Lyon St. Do we request for a year , five years, etc?
You would file a written request that you write up yourself and you have to send it to the proper department that keeps those records you are seeking, which in this case would likely be the police department and the DMV and department of streets, so you would send three requests. The letter needs to state you are making the request for the information under the GA open records act O.C.G.A. §50-18-70 and you need to specify the information you are seeking. Typically a reasonable request for this type of information is no more than 3 years and if anything is found in that information you can submit another request for the other previous years.
