I have acquired a 22-cal. pistol through the death of a family member whom had no registration or bill of sale, but I assume it was purchased legally. So, what is my legal obligation to validify that I am now the rightfull owner of this pistol if ever I should need to do so? I live in Alameda County, Ca.Thank You,Mike Cowan.

Thank You,
So, By not filing a "voluntary registration form", I'm not violating any law by just possession ( in my home), but if transporting on my person or my privately owned vehicle (automobile) I need to apply for a "CCW" or "LTC", Correct?
Mike.
