I am going to retire next September. I have a timesharing that I cannot longer pay when I retire. When I bought I have a lot of equity in my house, but every have change I'm not going to sell the house. I'd like to know if the timesharing can garnish my Social Security payments. Thank you.

Hopefully I can help you with your legal question.Good questionSocial Security benefits (including regular Social Security as well as Social Security disability) are not subject to garnishment to creditors. So if you default on the timeshare and they sue you and obtain a judgment, so long as the account into which the SS is deposited does not take deposits from any other source, the account is protected from garnishment.
