I would like to adopt my stepdaughter. We have been together on and of since she was 11. I was married to her dad who is now deceased 2 1/2 years and her mom has been deceased since she was 11. She is now 48 and back with me. We have a long history together and would like to make it legal.What do we need to do to make this happen?Dawn Holmes

This is what is known as an adult Adoption as parental consent is not required though you still need to go to court. To file, go to your superior court and pick up the forms which re simple fill in the blanks. The court will Los give you a packet of instructions. I wish you both well.
