If they have no cash or assets to pay for it, then they can simply file bankruptcy and you would get nothing at all. You can get paid by the issuance of stock to make up the difference in what you are owed, that is a permissible form of payment to you, but if they refuse, you would have to file suit to seek to collect what is due.
