Texas: I filed for an un contested divorce, my wife got a lawyer and reponded general denial an requesr general relief. What do these mean.
Optional Information: Country relating to Question: United States State (if USA): Texas Already Tried: Nothing
The request for general relief means as Texas is a community property state, she wants what is provided for her by law, which is a 1/2 interest in all of the assets and debts of the community and maintaining the status quo until the order of divorce and granting of the community property settlement (meaning you cannot cancel insurance or take any community property until the court gives approval).

I understand community state, but what does general denile me and will i have to pay her spousal support?
Mr Gary, we asked that you just reply and not give negative feedback to the expert and the experts are more than willing to follow up with all of your questions. Feedback should be given only at the end, we know this is confusing to customers, but please try.The general denial means she is denying the grounds in your divorce petition, this is a standard legal reply to a divorce and it really means nothing in the scheme of things. As far as spousal support, that is not mandatory by any state statute and it is based on the length of the marriage, the needs of the spouse asking for support, the ability of the other spouse to pay and whether or not your spouse can work to earn a living to support herself or if she has any disabilities to prevent her from working. Legally, spousal support is not awarded in every divorce, it depends on the exact circumstances of each individual divorce.
