I do not know why the attorneys do not want to touch the case, but generally even though you made statements in the press and may have been involved in the Raghu Nayak case if attorneys see sufficient evidence to proceed in a case they will take the case. The problem is that in these employment cases, because of costs involved in preparing for Litigation and because so few of them turn out positively for the plaintiff, most attorneys will not touch an employment case without a retainer and modified hourly fee agreement in addition to the contingency fee.

When I mentioned above that so few cases are favorable to the employee, this ties into you saying "what can I do to find out if this has had a negative effect on my employment?" The problem in these cases is gathering actual evidence of the wrongdoing and unless you can get some prospective employer who is willing to testify and provide you evidence that this is the reason you were not hired, it is very difficult and it is merely a circumstantial case which is hard to prove in court.

If you do not have funds to file the suit on your own, you can file a motion for waiver of fees and you have to prove you are indigent and unable to pay them under the Equal Access to Justice Act. If you can satisfy the court that you are unable to pay, they will waive your filing fees and allow you to file.
