I have an f-5 felony for receiving Stolen property In Dayton, Ohio in 02-1999. I got 5 yr probation. Tthe probation was dropped after completing 2 yrs. Since then I've served jury duty in Dayton, Ohio, and was requested to serve for Polk county in Florida where I reside now. I've been accepted to work in 2 Veteran Administration Hospital pending back ground check. They ask for any violations within ten years. I have none. What the possibility of not getting the job because of the F-5 13 years ago.

I certainly understand your concern. Hiring is done on a case by case basis, so there is no way of knowing for sure if something like this would prevent you from being hired. Considering that they were specific in regard to the past 10 years, the fact that this happened outside of the time frame, should not be something that weighs as heavily against you think. A background check would reveal this, but if they were concerned, they would have just asked if you have ever been charged and/or convicted with a misdemeanor or felony. If you have been accepted pending the background check and they only asked you about the last 10 years, this is something which may come up and need to be addressed but could be outside the time period in which they look.
