I have a judgement against a non papyment of a credit card. not married @ retired with income only from social security & small pension. can these be garnished?
Optional Information: Country relating to Question: United States State (if USA): Arizona Already Tried: nothing
Hello and welcome,What type of pension do you receive? Is it from a public employer or a 401K or something else?
from my employer who was a newspaper
I see.State and other government pensions are typically exempt from attachment, but this private pension would normally not be exempt, so the creditor could attach it.Social security benefits are normally exempt from attachment, so the risk should be limited to the pension income. Here is a link that provides more information on AZ garnishment laws:http://www.debtsettlementlawyers.com/resources/debt-settlement/debt-collection/arizona-wage-garnishment-laws.htm
