What type of lawyer is best to file a Property Lein against my wife's brother who has refused to pay on a previous settlement of $14.000 cash plus half of the estate, it's been almost five years now and has been avoiding us and our efforts to contact him. We live in the state of New Mexico.
Optional Information: Country relating to Question: United States State (if USA): New Mexico Already Tried: We have gone by the house left messages for him to call us, we call him almost on a daily basis and he flat out ignores our efforts. Will not call us or return our messages.
Hello and welcome,Does your wife's brother also live in New Mexico?
Yes he does
I see. Then a local contracts law attorney that also hands collections would typically be the most helpful in this situation. An alternative to retaining an attorney would be to look for a collection agency to work on a contingency fee basis. Here is a link to the state bar attorney referral service:http://www.nmbar.org/findattorney/attorneyfinder.aspx
