What do you do when you have two court appearances on the same day, same time, buttwo different buildings? I contacted the DA about this matter, but she said there wasnothing she could do.
Optional Information: Country relating to Question: United States State (if USA): Louisiana Already Tried: Told her and others about this conflict, but they said they could do nothing to resolve this problem.
Hello,In my time as a Public Defender, this is a problem that I would run into on a daily basis. The solution was to notify the other side that you had to be in another court at the same time and ask them to pass you until the end of the docket. If court is scheduled for 10am, your case might not even get called until an hour or so later if it is a busy docket. .So the best option is to pick the court that you think will go fastest (X court) and then notify the prosecutor (in Y court) that you will be in X court, but will return as soon as the case is heard there, and request that they pass you until the end of the docket. Then you ask the prosecutor/attorney in the other case (X court) to call your case as soon as possible..Since the prosecutor/attorney in Y court knows you are in X court, he has a duty to notify the judge if the case is called before you get back.
.
Thanks.
