The general type of settlement in this type of case would be the actual damage to the car and then the personal injury component. The personal injury component is your medical expenses plus any lost wages. Additionally, you can claim pain and suffering for personal injury which for minor injury is calculated as 1/2 to 2 times the total amount of the medical and lost wages. Any amount of money your insurer paid for the medicals would have to be reimbursed from any settlement you receive.
