Your records is expunged, someone e-mails an old newspaper story about you to several people, which could cost you your job. Is there anything you can do?

Hello and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to assist you.

Unfortunately, you likely have no legal recourse since (1) the story is not a lie (i.e., no defamation), and (2) the story is part of the public record (i.e., no invasion of privacy). Nonetheless, you could still send the person (or better yet, have your attorney send the person) a cease and desist letter demanding that he stops sending the article or face legal action. But the threat of legal action doesn't appear to hold much water, so he may or may not succumb to the threat.
