How long does a collection agency have to provide a receipt after they have received full payment and the payment was electronically submitted and has cleared my account.
Country relating to Question: United States
State (if USA): Texas
When I made the payment I asked for a receipt and they told me they can not provide a reciept till May 29.
Hello. My name is XXXX XXX I will be happy to answer your question.Generally, the collection agency has 30 days to mail out a letter to the debtor stating that the debt has been settled in full.
So they can take my money an take 30 days to provide a receipt? So I have no proof of payment besides my bank statement.
Thank you for your follow up.It is up to the collection agency whether to provide you with an letter stating that the debt was settled in full right away or not, but unless the written Settlement Agreement that you had with the collection agency/creditor states that upon payment you will be provided with a letter stating the debt was settled in full, the collection agency generally has 30 days to mail such letter out.
