QUESTION: "When do I say "of this contract" and when do I say "hereof" in its place?"

ANSWER: Thanks for posing a very interesting question! Here is how this works. The first time the contract is mentioned, say so. Thereafter, you can use a term for reference, but I would change "hereof" to "therein" or "thereof". It is admittedly a rather minor or technical point, but as a former legal editor I still have a bit of an eye for this type of detail. For example (just off of the top of my head to illustrate): "Plaintiff claims that Defendant breached the contract. In other words, Plaintiff claims that Defendant failed to honor the provisions thereof (or stipulated therein)."
