I am the victim of an elder abuse case of abandonment that resulted in severe injury to myself. I contacted the national Center on Elder abuse and described the incident clearly. They advised me to contact my local Sheriff's Department, which I did. They told me that in Idaho, these situations are referred to as bad luck. I contacted the regional FBI center in Salt Lake City and they told me they were too busy to prosecute this case. They recommended that I higher an attorney and sue her in court. Being penniless, I was unable to locate an attorney to handle this case without a retainer of at least $20,000. Clearly Idaho will do nothing, so how do I get the federal government to enforce its own law?

You can contact Idaho Adult Protective Services at http://www.idahoaging.com/, since they are the agency in Idaho that takes up these cases in defense of the elderly. Also, to get a local attorney you can call the Idaho Bar Association at http://isb.idaho.gov/ilf/ivlp/seeking_legal_assistance.html for an elder law attorney who can assist you. As far as the federal government, the US Attorney's Office has the sole discretion as to what cases they will prosecute and you can contact the Idaho US Attorney's office at http://www.justice.gov/usao/id/.These are the resources available to you to assist you in pursuing your justice.
