Hi. I had a brief encounter with a girl last week and now she won't leave me alone. She calls and texts non stop and has also made vague threats directed to me and my son and my ex-wife. I have no idea what she is capable of. What are my options? Thanks!
Hello,I would recommend filing a report with your local police department. If you have a record of phone calls, text messages, etc., then bring that with you to file a report. It is possible that she could be brought up on harrassment charges, but even if she is not yet, you are creating a record if she continues her behavior. Simply filing the report may get her to stop.Let me know if you have any other specific questions! I hope this helps. Thank you for the information.
Would hiring a lawyer at this point to do this for me be a bit muc? I would like to scare her with a lawyer or notice without causing any damage to her criminal record.
I am scared that she will either show up at my house, my ex's house or work.
Thanks again.
Dan
Hello,You could have an attorney draft a letter for you if you just want her to stop - this would probably be relatively inexpensive. You could also have an attorney petition for a restraining order for you, which does not go on a criminal record unless they are violated and the person is arrested. Thank you!
last question.
What kind of attorney would handle something like this?
Hello, You should be fine with a general practice civil attorney, especially if you just need a letter drafted. You can also contact your local bar association, many of whom provide free referral services to attorneys who offer free or low cost initial consultations. Thank you!
