I have a guest and I would like her to enjoy driving while she is here. I have an extra car that I own and would like her to use it while she is here in California.I don't like to expose myself to an unnecessary liability by loaning my car to her, however.Should I transfer the title to the car if I want to save myself any liability or can I make a short term lease (6 months) and keeping title to myself? I don't mind if she trashes the car if it so happens. I just don't want expose myself to unknown liability.Nori

Hello and thank you for the question. I am sorry to read of this dilemma.Ideally, you dont let her use.But if intent in doing so, you need her name added to the insurance, and consider a short term lease. You may want her to sign an agreement indemnifying you as well in event of a claim.
I am thinking that she should get her own insurance coverage. Do I still need to get her added in my policy ?
That is yet another layer of protection but as long as titled to you, then be sure to have her on your insurance as well.
