I have a sister-in-law who is 91 years old living in NY State. She was recently notified that her automobile insurance is cancelled due to her age. Living in Florida, I am not familiar with NY Insurance Laws.Is this valid? or should she look at another insurance company/Dick
Hello,Unfortunately, this would be a company policy, not a NY statute that may have resulted in them cancelling the policy. If the company has a policy that they don't insure drivers over 90, then that would be their choice..But no, there is no NY law that states that an insurer can't extend coverage to someone who is 91..Assuming that the person has a valid license and good driving record, they should contact other insurers to see if another would extend coverage..
.
Thanks.
