For this type of situation, your damages would be the inconvenience of not having the car. This would include the taxi cab fare or if you had to rent a car. Incidental damages such as lost income because of loss of use of the car would not be recoverable.

So if I understand correctly, they could tow my car by mistake a second time, but would only be liable to cover my expenses to recover the vehicle + means to get to my car which could be a bus ticket cab, fare, car rental etc...
That is correct. I will not bore you with the legal theory of damages but it relates to damages that are reasonably foreseeable and your emotional distress or lost income do not fall wihtin the reasonably foreseeable area.
