A ex roomate mover out last april (2010). She packed a few

Resolved Question:

A ex roomate mover out last april (2010). She packed a few bags of clothes but left all her other personal belongings behind. She called a couple months ago and stated she would be back in the state and wanted to come get them. We made arrangements for her to come by and pick everything up, she of course was a no show. How long am i legally bound to hold her possesions? Also is it possible to charge her any fee for keeping them for so long?

You need to send her a letter (to her last known address) through certified mail letting her know exactly which possession of hers you have and giving her two-three weeks to pick them up. State in the letter that if she does not pick them up within the 2-3 weeks, they will be considered legally abandoned and you can dispose of them (Sell them at auction).
