The management company for my HOA fined me $300 for a faded

Resolved Question:

The management company for my HOA fined me $300 for a faded front door and siding in need of a powerwash, then doubled the fine for each month that I have not paid it. Fine now exceeds $1800. What are my options? Is this legal?

Thank you for the post, do your bylaws or CCRs empower the association to levy the fine and late fees? If so, they can enforce the fees in court and it is considered a legal obligation.
