I want to know what responsibility I would have or any criminal

Resolved Question:

I want to know what responsibility I would have or any criminal liability I would incur if somebody gave me too much money by mistake and I kept the money, civil or criminal?

Hello and thank you for your question. Please elaborate on the situation. Is this an employer? a contract?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

This is not a contract or an employer. It is simply the liquidation of a brokerage account with an overpayment on the part of the brokerage house. Whether a client's brolerage account is a "contract" is open to legal interpretation.

You would be sued for the overpayment if you do not return it. That could result in a judgment.
