Can a probaqtion officer run his mouth to people in public

Customer Question

Can a probaqtion officer run his mouth to people in public about a former client?

Unfortunately, yes, so long as he doesn't say anything that constitutes defamation (a false statement about the former probationer) then there's nothing to prevent him from talking about a former probationer in public.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
So he can go around telling people who don't even know this person about what he was in trouble for?
Expert:  Cedric replied 6 years ago.
Unfortunately, yes, there's no law that prohibits him from doing so.
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
But if he says things that are not true and exagerates the truth, is that legal?
Expert:  Cedric replied 6 years ago.
No, that constitutes defamation, and he can be sued for making those untrue statements and damaging the ex-probationer's reputation.
