Thanks for your question. You must be seizure-free for at least six months to qualify for a Virginia driver's license.

If you experience a seizure, blackout or loss of consciousness while licensed, the DMV will suspend your driving freedoms for six months. If you remain seizure-free during this time, you'll be required to go through a review process before your license can be reinstated. As part of the review may be required you to:

  • Pass a knowledge test.
  • Have your doctor submit a medical statement.
  • Have either your optometrist or ophthalmologist provide a vision statement.
  • Be evaluated by a Driver Rehabilitation Specialist.

Based on the DMV's assessment of your medical statements or test results it may recommend that:

  • Your license be suspended.
  • Your license be restricted.
  • You submit to periodic vision or medical tests.
  • You agree to a driver evaluation.

No way around waiting here under the law.Sorry I know that you are frustrated.
