No it is not illegal, actually those records are property of the employer and not the employee
. All the employer has to do is give you a check and on the check show how much money was earned and deductions from pay. If you are questioning your hours, then as an employee you have a right to keep your own records of your hours worked in your personal journal or on a piece of paper, but the employer does not have to show you those records. If you have some proof that they are underpaying you, then you would make a complaint to the Dept. of Labor and then THEY would have the rights to obtain those records to investigate the complaint.
