I have a daughter who is 11 yrs old. Her biological father has not been in the picture consistantly in all of her 11 years. there is a court order from about 8 yrs ago and he was to have supervised visits every sunday for 2 hiours. nothing has changed since then other than him being in the picture less and less. My husband has raised her since she was 1 year old and he would like to adopt her how can this happen?
Thanks for your question. You would file for termination and step parent adoption here. You will need a lawyer to file and present..You certainly have grounds for abandonment and nonsupport. If the court grants here at hearing then you get amended birth certificate with new last name and father listed. I would encourage you to do so in this situation..RayAnswers40094.7223384606
