I live in new york. in the past 2 weeks my family discovered that the private pay aide who was caring for my elderly father, used his dbit card and stole over the course of 10 months close to 50,ooo dollars for her own personal use. The matter was turned over to the police and they have yet to arrest the person. They seem to want us to take restitution and not proceed with criminal charges. I want this person to face charges for what she did. This has not been turned over to the DA as yet. Should my family call the DA, get an attorney, if so what kind? Can you advise? Thank you
State/Country relating to Question: New York Already Tried: The matter has been turned over to detectives. We also have a signed, notarized confession and physical proof of the theft on bank statements.
Thanks for your question.Have some patience here. They may be trying to build their case here. You could file civil suit for restitution here but if you can get it out of the cops it would be cheaper of course.Just continue to consistently bug them here. And if you try to involve a civil lawyer here that would be ok too.The lawyer may harass law enforcement into prosecuting as well.RayAnswers40094.0797674769
