what are the NC laws about medicare paying for all nursing home expenses if we (the children) have had all of our parents land put in our names. Is there a way that medicare can go back so many years and take the land for payment or force us to sell it for payment? They are 92 yrs old and 87 and can't afford to pay for the nursing home but need to be in one.

Medicaid will make payments but will seek to recover all transfers of assets looking back FIVE YEARS. One possible way to avoid this is to take all of those assets you have received and place them into an irrevocable trust, for which you would need an attorney to examine the assets and the nature and timing of the transfer to make sure that they can set the trust up so medicaid cannot get to those assets in their look back period.
