My sister is disabled by several strokes and is in a bad position right now. How can I get someone outside the family to help her do what she needs to do (sell her house, get out of a bad mortgage, and get into assisted living)
State/Country relating to Question: Maryland Already Tried: Getting her to help is futile; she can't hold her focus well enough to make the phone calls and get the information; she forgets the info and/or she writes it down, but can't recall where she put it. I live in WI and her other sister lives in MN so we can't go there easily to help. Her son and his wife are taking advantage of her by living in her house rent-free for over 3 years. They are co-signers on the mortgage, and I want her to just walk away and let them deal with it.
who is the legal guardian? who has PoA?
She seems quite certain that no one (except herself) has her POA. I've asked her several times. Until this most recent stroke a month ago, she was marginally capable of managing her own affairs.
ok, in that case you will have to ask the court to declare mentally incompetent and to appoint you or someone else legal guardian.
Thank you; I was afraid that would be the case. I am hoping that my older sister will take this responsibility since she is retired and rich, and I am working and broke! Thanks for your help.
thank you, XXXXX XXXXX luck. Please remember to click ACCEPT.
