My lawyer told me to call in sick for the week as the case was being settled between the two lawyers (mine and my employers). Thank you for contacting our JA team for guidance. It sounds as though your attorney is violating ethical codes of conduct which require him to communicate the status of your case, provide documents you request, and most importantly, inform you of any settlement offers--not simply negotiate without your involvement.I would report him to the state bar association and look for a new attorney. The state bar can also provide you with new attorney referrals as well as your rights as a client. If the attorney fails to provide you with a complete copy of your case file, file a another complaint with the state bar. Please let me know if you need additional information.
