my previous employer issued me a check of $7500 as my incentive in 05, i was out of country then on business visit for my company and the check was lost. i found the check now , can i still ask the company to honor it and pay me as it was something that they owed me
State/Country relating to Question: New Jersey Already Tried: nothin
hi
you can certainly make that request. they are not obligated under any law to do so as it is a bonus/incentative which is not mandated to be a salary. chances are, if you show the check has not been cashed, they might write you another.
I was in sales role so incentive was big part of my comp plan, will this help in anyway in terms of pushing them for payment.I have original check with me.
if it was part of a salary package, you have a better shot than if it was just a bonus. if you show that the check was not cashed, they should write another. if not, take it to the labor board in that state and ask they intervene.
