My neighborer is complaining of tree heights in my property claiming that it is fire hazard. What are my rights for keeping my trees as they are?
State/Country relating to Question: California Already Tried: The Neighborer has gone to City of LA dispute resolution Department and they are calling me.
If the trees are truly a fire hazard you would have to trim them, but that is up to the City to determine. If you have some tree expert to examine the trees and write a report they are not a hazard, then you would use that with the dispute resolution process. The neighbor can trim any branches that overhang his property line, but that is his responsibility and not yours and if he chooses to do this, then he must do so with care not to harm the tree and he cannot cut branches on your side of the property line.
