I have a ex in WV and I am having trouble collecting Child Support from him, he is working, but I am in KY. He has a 401k retirement plan through his employer in the skill trades union he belongs to. Can I get a lawyer and have him collect the almost $14,000.00 dollars he owes me in back payments?

Already Tried:
Putnam county. I have tried to sick Child Support enforcement in that county on him because everytime they catch up with him, he majically seems to get "laid-off" and by the time they catch up with him again it is a vicsious circle he is a pipefitter Journeyman , that has been a foremen in the past with his unionhall, but can never have enough money to pay me and live on, what do I do. Yes,

This appears to be a severe deficiency. If your ex does not pay child support, he is subject to enforcement measures in accordance with Federal and Kentucky child support law to collect regular and past-due payments. That means that you can withhold income, such as his garnishment of wages, or his worker's comp and unemployment. You can also move to suspend his driver's license or any professional license that he has. You can also deny his his passport and intercept his tax returns.

Find an attorney who will file a motion on your behalf in the court in which your custodial order was set out, and start collecting what is owed to you.

Yes, make sure that your attorney is aware that retirement plans can be tapped to pay child support deficiencies as well (some attorneys are unaware of that fact).
