Bamboo from a neighbors yard (they planted it) is destroying my driveway. Is there anything I can do?
State/Country relating to Question: Virginia Already Tried: I have spoken with neighbor and I gotten no help. I spent 500.00 trying to clear the bamboo on my property but it keeps coming back because the neighbor has not cleared his bamboo.
Good afternoon,I'm sorry to hear of your dilemma. If the bamboo that your neighbor owns is encroaching on your property and causing damage, you can sue your neighbor for the property damage. You can sue in Small Claims court. You would be wise to get an estimate of the repair cost of the driveway as well as an expert opinion as to the cause of the damage. Additionally, some testimony from a nurseryman regarding the steps needed to prevent this from happening again would be useful--especially if it requires your neighbor to kill the bamboo somehow.I wish you well.
