I am needing some information about a situation. Four years ago on July 28th of 2005, I purchased a hottub, part of the contract was I was to recieve 2 rebate checking which totaled $9,000.00. I had to wait 4 years for it to mature, which was on Sept 10 2009. I sent my package in, and then found out that the holding company was no longer. The only information I have been able to find claims that I should have gotten payment early, which did not occur, it stated that the funds were held in escrow by some bank, but not to contact the back, instead contact the Attorney General's office in Colorado, I have sent the attorney general a couple emails, but have not recieved any kind of response, I know I am upset, because this is a LOT of money, I just need to know what it all means. If you look at www.nationrebatefund.com, you will know as much as I do at this point. I just want to know what all that means, like am I S.O.L.? After spending 4 years planning on getting the money.
State/Country relating to Question: Colorado Already Tried: I have sent emails to the Colorado Attonery General office, but have not gotten any response
Thank you for your question.
From what I read on that site, it appears that the escrow fund is intact and that voucher holders will be receiving at least a pro-rata share of the escrow. If the attorney general's office is not responding to your emails, I would recommend that you call instead and ask to speak to someone about this issue. Let them know that this company has referred you to them for guidance. If you are unable to get anywhere with the attorney general's office, you may consider hiring a private attorney. An attorney can sue both the company that owes you the money and the bank that is holding the escrow to release the escrow to you. Although an attorney will likely charge on an hourly basis for this service, based on the amount of money you are owed, it may be worthwhile to pursue.

I final question, if I have to get a private attorney, what sort of attorney is that, consumer protection?
Yes, or an attorney specializing in civil litigation.
