My son was in juevenile detention 6 years ago in Hendricks county. When he completed his probation 4 years ago he was 17 years old. The probation officer at that time gave me a list of the total amount that was due from the cases that he had. I have a detail list of the total amount due at that time. Over the 2 years following the end of his probation my son paid off the entire amount due. I have money orders that show the payments made. Then approx 3 months ago the probation officer found my son on facebook and told him that he still owed $2,000. And that he was scheduled to go to court for not paying. My son agreed @ that time (he was in Atlanta attending school) to pay $50.00 per month. I called the probation officer and asked him why he still owed money when we thought is was all paid. The probation office told me that it was because my son had more than one case and that one of the cases no one @ juevenile could see on the record because they spelled his last name wrong.
State/Country relating to Question: Indiana Already Tried: Nothing.
If it can be verified that what the probation officer says is true, then he will have to pay the restitution. You should ask for documentation - court documents, etc. to prove this is the case.
