The CPD came to my house and accused me of entering the yard of a retired policeman, claiming to be a policeman myself, yelling someone's name. I did not do this and even with evidence of a different timeline, plice would not accept it. Det said he was sure it was me but would not call it a criminal case and would "suspend" it. What does that mean? He added if anthing ever happend to the officer or his wife, they would be back. Do I need a lawyer to exonerate myself? I am frankly frightened by the whole thing. Also money is a big object and I would need to go to legal aid. How do I do this. Your help would be greatly appreciated. MJC
State/Country relating to Question: Illinois Already Tried: Nothing
It doesn't sound like you've even been charged with anything. You don't need an attorney if you haven't been arrested and charged with a crime. It is obvious that there is no evidence against you if the detective is not following througb with an investigation.
