my husband filed a letter to the court 6/09stating "Dr L records will reveal that he is aware that Respondent has a demonstrated propensity to use her mental illness to manipulate people and events. I have had numerous on and off the record discussions with Dr L confirming this behavior". Although the judge ignored the letter& was givensole custody of kids,I feel my dr violated my privacy. I never signed a release for my psychto speak to my soon to be ex.When I questioned MD, he said "I don't know how he knows what's in your records". My divorce has been going on for 20 months. Also, when I voluntarily admitted myself to hospital in 2007,in my medical records there are numerous notations regarding conversations with my husband I was unaware of until 3 wks ago. I wasn't suicidal or homicidal for this admission. I was specific telling him not to share my private info because I suspected husband of various issues, which later came true.
State/Country relating to Question: Wisconsin Already Tried: Last month I was advised to file a complaint with the ethics board for severe non sexual boundary violations. I did.
thank you for the post, what is your question?
sorry. should I contact Office for Civil Rights? (HIPPA violation)?
From your post, it is not clear that your husband had actual knowledge and his statement amounts to an allegation but does not represent proof that the doctor disclosed any patient information.
