What's the written format to request a continuation from the judge?
State/Country relating to Question: Texas Already Tried: I can't find any sources online!
Hello. You just outline that you are requesting a postponement of your trial date and then explain the reasons why you need a new date. Then you conclude by respectfully XXXXX XXXXX court to postpone your case and notify you of the new trial date. You will need to send a copy to the clerk of court as well as to opposing counsel. Here is a sample request, though obviously you would have to change the caption and court name to fit your case:http://www.bedfordmuni.org/documents/MotionforContinuanceTC.pdf
Oh, this isn't a criminal case, so would it make a difference in format?
No, sorry, I should have indicated it. You can use the same format, it would just have a different caption at the top since it is in civil court.
